Somber Seas w/ Simulacra @ Effie Arts Collective

Influenced by the tidal waters of the Canadian Northwest Coast where they reside, Somber Seas takes indie rock and submerges it into the depths of the ocean, pulls celestial synth inspirations from the sky, and mimics the notion of an otherworldly habitat. This four piece act has the rhythm section to make you dance like northern lights, cosmic sounds to get your body feeling like a jellyfish, and a narrative to draw you into the depths of your own oceans.

Isaac Jordan (Simulacra) is a pigment of the imagination with a penchant for the unknown. A creator of cosmogonic sigils, spectral photographies, and a vast musical mysterium, Isaac exists somewhere in a liminal space between Penticton, BC and the maw of the abyss.

Stephen Hamm the Theremin Man Live at The Effie

Doors 7pm Show 7:30pm

Licenced Venue - Minors Allowed accompanied by an Adult

A legendary member of the Vancouver Music scene for over thirty years, Stephen Hamm continues a prolific, adventurous musical career and has become one of Canada’s most unforgettable and beloved performers. Stephen has played in bands like Slow, Canned Hamm and Nardwuar And The Evaporators.

A multi instrumentalist, Stephen Hamm has shifted his focus to mastering the theremin. The theremin is an early electronic instrument that is touchless: a thereminist interacts with magnetic fields around the two antennae on a theremin rather than actually touching the instrument. Stephen has been thrilling audiences at clubs and festivals with his wildly creative solo show based around theremin and synthesizer and has been taking them on an electro musical journey into new abstract dimensions of sound!

Mother's Day Paint Night

Looking for something to do on Mother's Day? Have you ever been interested in a paint night, but didn't go because it was too expensive? Join us at Caffe Motivo on Mother's Day!

Tickets to this Paint Party make the perfect Mother's Day gift, as would your painting if you don't want to/can't attend together. This event is family friendly; however, to create the best experience for everyone, it is worth noting that this will be a relatively quiet atmosphere, and may not be a good setting to bring very young children who may get restless.

Doors will open at 4:30pm, creating the perfect opportunity to grab a drink (alcohol available for those 19+) before the activity. Painting will begin at 5:00pm.

All supplies will be provided, but we suggest wearing clothes that you would be okay with possibly getting paint on. An 8"x10" canvas is included in the base ticket price, or upsize your canvas for an additional fee.
